A Poem for Inspiration!

Happy 2018!! Hope you’re all enjoying the New Year! 🙂 🙂

This is the time we’re all trying to turn over a new leaf and make some positive changes, overcome bad habits and write a brand new chapter in our lives. However, research has shown that most people will break most of their resolutions within a month or so and get back to their old ways very soon 🙁

Here are a proven few tips that might help you stick to them:

1. Make only 3 – 4 resolutions or even fewer, not more. Choose only the most important goals that you want to achieve. Making too many changes at once usually leads to failure.

2. Change your internal vocabulary: don’t tell yourself that you “have to” do something, instead tell yourself that you “want to” do something. Apparently, this helps!

3. Create an enabling environment around yourself – this is as important as willpower or determination. For example, if you want to exercise more – keep your workout clothes ready the night before, and in such a way that they are the first items that you see when you wake up. Or, if you want to lose weight – stock only healthy foods in your kitchen and refrigerator. When you create an environment that’s conducive to your goals, you’re more likely to succeed 🙂

Sharing one of the most inspiring poems ever written. Rudyard Kipling (1865 – 1936) was an English writer and still remains the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature. He was born in Bombay and spent his life both in India and England. If you want to know more about him – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudyard_Kipling

If— by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

    Thanks for picking one of my favourite poems. You are so right about using the appropriate words. Neuro linguistic programming asserts that our words create our life. Write on!
